“Passion is the underlying basis for one’s drive, and drive is the fundamental engine for one’s growth and pursuits.”
Prior to joining TSMP, Eugene practised at one of the “Big Four” law firms in Singapore. Eugene is a firm believer that passion is the underlying basis for one’s drive, and drive is the fundamental engine for one’s growth and pursuits.
This drive led Eugene to graduate top 25 per cent of his cohort, win the inaugural Wee Chong Jin Scholarship in Law in 2012, as well as emerge champion in an international moot court competition held in Oxford in 2016. Eugene continues to contribute to the competition by returning as an invited judge to judge the regional rounds held annually in Beijing as well as the international rounds held annually in Oxford. Eugene has been doing so since 2018.
Eugene writes and speaks fluent English and Mandarin and has a knack for building trusting long-term relationships with his clientele, spanning high net worth clients, listed companies and multinational corporations. Eugene is currently working at the firm’s China Desk.
His practice areas are commercial litigation, international arbitration, competition and regulatory investigations. Eugene has represented clients from a wide variety of industries, including banking and financial services, hospitality and F&B, insurance, healthcare and pharmaceutical, energy oil and gas, real estate, professional services, technology and telecommunications.
In his spare time, Eugene likes to play the guitar, sing, and volunteers with various projects that work with the homeless and underprivileged in Singapore. Eugene is also an active volunteer lawyer at weekly Meet the People Sessions and at the Singapore Management University Legal Clinics. Eugene was awarded a certificate of appreciation in 2019 for his contributions.
