Stefanie Yuen Thio quoted in The Edge: “Recommendation to disallow companies to downgrade to Catalist kicks up a storm”

In a news story published by The Edge Singapore in its 21-25 January 2019 edition on the criticisms on a recommendation to disallow companies to downgrade to the Catalist board, Stefanie Yuen Thio was quoted from her LinkedIn debate with Prof Mak Yuen Teen, who had proposed the change.

The story reported that she had disagreed with Prof Mak that ailing Mainboard companies should not be allowed to transfer to the Catalist Board. She added that exceptions should be made “so long as those are not caused by unlawful actions of management.”

She said: “If Singapore is all about letting people learn through failures… then we need to give them space to rehabilitate. We need to give room for companies that are struggling to regain their footing.”
