Stefanie Yuen Thio quoted in Lianhe Zaobao: “洗钱案促企业加强监管 律所合规服务需求增加”
Stefanie was quoted by Chew Boon Leong in Lianhe Zaobao.
His article covered how money laundering cases in Singapore have prompted companies to strength supervision, and also increased the demand for law firm services (p. 22). It included Stefanie’s comments that TSMP has recently seen their regulatory compliance business increase, with more clients looking into ensuring that their KYC procedures are robust, and that the main clients are from the real estate and financial service industries.
Stefanie also noted that companies in real estate, pawnbroking and sales of luxury items like cars should consider strengthening their regulatory systems to ensure that they are not receiving laundered funds.
