“History is who we are and why we are the way we are.” – David C. McCullough
Admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2019, Jian Hui started legal practice in banking litigation and arbitration. Since moving to banking and corporate practice in 2021, he has represented local and international clients across different industry sectors through complex banking and finance transactions and private mergers and acquisitions, from billion-dollar syndicated financings to headlining cross-border acquisitions and restructurings.
Beyond his transactional practice in the legal arena, Jian Hui invests deeply in the Firm's future. He sits on the Firm's recruitment committee, where he focuses on shaping the internship recruitment process that brings fresh talent into the Firm. He also serves on the Firm's Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Management committee, helping actively steer how the Firm embraces emerging technology.
A lifelong student of history, Jian Hui has a keen interest in geopolitics, and he is firmly convinced that the currents of world affairs shape commerce and businesses intimately – a perspective he carries into every deal. Away from the desk, the former competitive tennis player now channels his passion into spirited armchair commentary on the game. He is also an unrepentant foodie, ready to travel the lengths and breadths of Singapore and countries across the region in pursuit of the perfect meal – from celebrated restaurants to unassuming roadside stalls. On any of these topics, he is always glad to have a fruitful conversation.
