“Everyone looks for Black Swans. No one sees the White Swans before their eyes.”
We quip that Mark is the international man of mystery here at TSMP. International because he worked in five jurisdictions and four financial capitals, including the US, Hong Kong and Singapore. Mystery because he is the go-to for esoteric fintech startups, advising them on novel structures and helping them navigate cutting-edge regulatory and compliance requirements – often in uncharted waters.
He has acted on more than half of Singapore’s Sandbox participants, a number of “digital securities” exchanges and Asia Pacific’s first block-chain incorporation agent and smart contracting platform. And many Singapore debuts, including a robo-advising platform, an equity crowdfunding platform, a revenue-sharing arrangement and a P2P platform.
In the traditional space, Mark has represented financial institutions on regulatory and compliance, in applications and submissions to most of the major financial regulatory organisations globally, such as the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.
Plus, he knows his way around funds and their transactions, having served as both legal counsel and business consultant, an increasingly relevant skill as private equity and venture capital funds are increasingly taking over the fundraising role traditionally played by stock exchanges.
Together with the firm’s partners, Mark founded compliance consulting firm Integrium Pte. Ltd. to service the ongoing compliance and reporting requirements of its financial institutions clients.
Beyond the office, has served as pro bono counsel for both entities and individuals in a number of areas. He has also served the secretary to the board of directors of The Mekong Club, which works to disrupt and end modern-day slavery.
