Borne out of conversations between female managing partners of firms, a series of mentoring sessions were started to help younger women lawyers form networks, share, learn, and support each other in their career journeys.
Stefanie Yuen Thio, joint managing partner of TSMP Law Corporation and chairperson of Singapore Her Empowerment (SHE), is an advocate for women empowerment and strongly believes that mentorship can help younger women find validation, footing and progress in their careers.
“Every couple of months, law firms will take turns to host a mentoring session (let’s call it a Friendship Circle) for women lawyers to get together and share and support one another,” said Stefanie. “There’s nothing like knowing that the woman next to you struggles with the same stupid insecurities and fights the same annoying inner demons. [The sessions are] great way to make friends and halve burdens.”
The second mentoring session (pictured) was held at TSMP on 25 April, hosted by Stefanie, TSMP partner Felicia Tan and Shirin Tang, managing partner of Morrison Foerster Singapore.
