Ian was quoted by Abigail Ng in Channel NewsAsia, in her article on the Ministry of Manpower’s plan to increase Employment Pass (EP) qualifying salaries next year.
The article included Ian’s comments that the move was not unexpected, since EP salaries are meant to be pegged to the top one-third of earners in Singapore. He noted that salaries have risen somewhat post-pandemic, but not drastically, which is consistent with the rise of EP qualifying salaries.
He also noted that the minimum qualifying salary was last increased in 2022 and added that some industries hire fewer foreigners, such as most local law firms. Ian mentioned that hiring decisions (at TSMP) would not be affected as EP holders are a very small minority in the firm.
