On 26 March 2020, the Lianhe Zaobao published an article on the Singapore government’s plan to push through legislative changes to allow listcos to hold virtual AGMs in response to the Covid-19 outbreak. TSMP Law Corporation joint managing partner Stefanie Yuen Thio said that “amending the company law can make virtual meetings more credible.”
In addition to company law, she believes that the company’s articles of association must also be read carefully, as some will list the quorum or voting requirements of the meeting.
