Felicia Tan Weighs in on Bukom Island Shutdown in Lianhe Zaobao Coverage
Felicia Tan lent her expertise to Lianhe Zaobao, which published an article online on the suspension of production at Bukom Island by Singapore’s Aster Chemicals and Energy, focusing on the application of force majeure.
She was quoted explaining that such clauses are common, and when asked if they could be invoked in all circumstances, she pointed out that the key lay in the actual cause of the loss or breach of contract, and whether the relevant evidence could support it.
The article was also published in print. The paper additionally carried a supplementary online piece, outlining what these clauses are and when they may apply. Felicia’s comments in this piece were similar to those used in the main article.
