Leon Lim was quoted in The Business Times by Megan Cheah. This article covered the IPO outlook for 2025 and the role of the MAS review group (p. 6).
Leon was quoted saying the group is acknowledgement of the problem, and it has promised to implement measures quickly, however, it has caused IPO aspirants to take a wait-and-see approach. For the group to be effective, the measures must have sufficient punch and should be announced soon.
He also noted that the availability of private capital in Singapore has also impacted IPOs, as companies aiming to raise funds may find taking private money a “far quicker and less expensive or uncertain affair”. He added that the SGX is, perhaps, a victim of Singapore’s success at attracting private capital.
