Ong Pei Ching was quoted in Lianhe Zaobao by Poh Lay Hoon.
The article covered how companies should continue to hide NRIC numbers before new guidelines are issued (p. 1). Pei Ching is quoted saying that there is always a risk of identity theft or fraud when disclosing any personal information.
She added that customer verification and identity authentication should not rely solely on NRIC numbers, and organisations such as banks should have robust authentication processes in place, such as a two-factor authentication (2FA) policy. Pei Ching also advised the public not to use their NRIC number as a password.
