Stefanie Yuen Thio was quoted in The Straits Times by Claire Huang. The article analysed the lessons learnt from the scrapped Allianz-Income deal and Income’s future in the industry.
Stefanie was quoted saying that moving forward, any deal that is proposed must ensure that Income has the ability to provide affordable insurance coverage to Singaporeans. This could be in the form of de facto control by having a controlling stake, or contractual protections where NTUC Enterprise has the right to make decisions on certain operational matters. These could be entrenched in the shareholders’ agreement entered into with the incoming shareholder.
