Stefanie Yuen Thio interviewed by CNA: “Does Singapore need harsher laws for sexual crimes against children?”

Stefanie was interviewed by Channel News Asia, on whether Singapore needs harsher laws for sexual crimes against children.
In the video, Stefanie covered the legal reforms in Singapore that could help prevent and address cases of child sexual abuse, how we can encourage bystanders to speak out, as well as whether a public sex offender registry is a solution.
With regard to the public sex offender registry, she noted that perhaps, to balance the rights of the accused and the public, a private registry where individuals who are going to be working in vocations where they deal a lot with children will have their names checked with the police who are cleared or not cleared to work in these professions.
