What makes a lawyer a legal icon? Asia Business Law Journal recently explored that question in its list of Singapore’s top 100 lawyers, which includes TSMP Law Corporation’s Joint Managing Partners, Thio Shen Yi, S.C., and Stefanie Yuen Thio.

Shen Yi and Stefanie, who lead TSMP’s disputes and transactions practices respectively, were selected based on extensive feedback from thousands of in-house counsel in Singapore and abroad, as well as partners at international law firms. The selection criteria focused on lawyers who personally handle the country’s most significant legal work, craft innovative solutions to complex problems, and set the highest standards in quality, originality and capability.

The publication defines legal icons as luminaries of the profession: leaders who command the respect of clients and peers, mentor the next generation, head admired firms or legal teams, and stand out as exceptional rainmakers. The recognition also reflects what clients value most today: lawyers who are more than technical experts, and who bring cross-border fluency, commercial insight, practical judgment and strategic advice that advances business objectives.
