Transient Workers Count Too Lauds TSMP’s Pro Bono Advocacy in Securing Justice for Migrant Worker
Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2), a Singapore-based non-profit organisation dedicated to the fair and equitable treatment of low-wage migrant workers, has recognised TSMP’s pro bono team, led by Partner Melvin Chan and Senior Associate Amelia Tan, for representing migrant worker Gena Hulash Ram in his High Court appeal against his former employer, Lim Joo Huat Enterprise.
In its commentary on the High Court ruling in Gena Hulash Ram v Lim Joo Huat Enterprise, TWC2 extended its “special thanks to TSMP Law Corporation for representing Gena pro bono”, adding that the firm’s professionalism and commitment to migrant workers’ access to justice played a vital role in the successful appeal.
The commentary also highlights the importance of TSMP’s collaboration with NGOs in advancing its pro bono work. More broadly, the outcome is a tangible expression of the firm’s corporate purpose of making justice accessible in action.
TWC2’s account further underscores the breadth of support involved throughout the case. During the Employment Claims Tribunal stage, the organisation assisted with evidence gathering and analysis, drafting witness statements, navigating the Tribunal’s document management system, and providing interpretation and welfare support, including housing, food and transportation allowances. At the appeal stage, TWC2 continued to support the matter by reviewing documents and liaising with the legal team.
