Danny is the advocate you want representing you in the depths of a crisis. His calm and caring demeanour to his clients belies his sharp courtroom advocacy and adroit control of difficult situations and negotiations. As a consummate educator, he has a knack for making complex legal topics simple and is able to work effectively and creatively with both legal and business teams to resolve tricky business disputes.

Danny prides himself on his tight turnaround and is frequently appointed to act in commercial litigation requiring urgent injunctions and as debtor’s counsel in dire insolvency situations. He also maintains a specialist tax disputes practice representing taxpayers in litigation against the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.

Danny is a highly-rated thought leader in his key areas of practice, namely in commercial litigation, insolvency and tax. He is a regular guest speaker at legal events, and a frequent contributor to Singapore’s leading broadsheets and top legal practitioner journals.

Danny graduated from the Law Faculty of the National University of Singapore and placed on the Overall Dean’s List (top 10 per cent). He was NUS’ top tax law student and was nominated for the Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding All-Round Achievement. He was previously with international firm Baker & McKenzie, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and had stints with UK barrister chambers Fountain Court Chambers and Pump Court Tax Chambers.

A former rugby player, Danny’s favourite team is the New Zealand All Blacks, which he respects for its efficiency, creativity and discipline. Just like when he held the fly-half position in rugby – also known as the “play maker” – in legal practice Danny relishes in strategising and executing plans that bring his clients and their counterparties together, believing that it is not enough to simply win the court battle; one must win the war.

“Danny shows a very good balance of confidence and disclosure of risks. This made the core team and our top management feel confident. Danny and his team work really fast and deliver high quality work. [Lastly], on top of Danny’s humour… Danny explains complex legal topics in such a way that also our colleagues from the business understand.”

— Leading global financial services provider

“Danny [has] a high level of emotional awareness. I felt that I could trust him with all information as he seemed to have best interest of us always. [W]e work with professional advisors all the time. It is usually difficult to achieve this level of comfort and trust in so short span of time, given that we never met face to face”
