Jennifer Chia comments in BT: “Strict short-term rental rules likely to have limited impact”
Commenting on URA’s consultation paper on a proposed regulatory framework for the use of private residential properties as short-term accommodation, Jennifer Chia acknowledges that the URA has provided a tenable framework to take into account the diverse views in Singapore on the use of private residential properties as short-term accommodations. She says that it allows a new residential category for short-term stays, in the Airbnb style whilst still maintaining regulation over the various stakeholders to ensure responsible home sharing.
