Leon Lim was quoted in The Business Times by Megan Cheah. The article covered how Catalist stocks’ poor performance highlight structural issues and market problems.
Leon was quoted saying that he believes the issue is more a market than a regulatory problem, and that SGX has improved its approval processes and time to market. He added that low valuations in our markets, especially for smaller companies, is disincentivising and hence, called for more support for Singapore-listed companies and a better pipeline of IPO aspirants.
He also highlighted that the overhang of regulators still trying to protect the retail public lingers, and that we need local retail investors to be more savvy when investing in emerging technologies, and not just look at price-to-earnings ratios and dividend yields.
